Bolivia - researching perceptions of rural development
|
Title: Commission on Rural Development and Food Security |
The Thematic Group for Rural Development and Food Security, coordinated by the FAO Representation in Bolivia, operates as a sub-group within the Rural Development Group (G-DRU), together with other thematic subgroups in the country. To date, the Thematic Group has prepared a document for a strategy on rural food security, designed to contribute to and complement government policies and programmes for rural and agricultural development. In June 2000, the Group held a workshop on a national strategy for food security. One year later, the Group is taking part in another workshop focused on civil society partners that will produce imputs for the World Food Summit: Five Years Later (WFS:fyl) process at the regional level. The Group is also currently carrying out research on the perceptions held by various actors in the country on rural development.
