"IFAD is an important institution working in all member countries of ROPPA and which also has an international mandate to fight poverty by funding projects that can directly benefit to the poorest populations. It is essential to strengthen capacities of organizations struggling against poverty. There was, therefore, room for possible partnership between IFAD and ROPPA." - Mamadou Cissokho
In this interview Mr. Mamadou Cissokho, Honorary President of the Network of Farmers' Organizations and Agricultural Producers in West Africa (ROPPA) talks about the main outcomes from the General Assembly of ROPPA and about this organization's work with IFAD.
The Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), dedicated to eradicating rural poverty, held its 27th session at its headquarters in Rome, Italy from 18-19 February, 2004 focusing discussions on the important role trade can play in reducing rural poverty.
This report offers the main outcomes of this session and highlights several passages of the speeches of Presidents and State leaders present at the meeting.
