100,000 representatives from civil society and social movements, sympathetic political leaders and academics from 126 Countries, converged in Porto Alegre, Brazil, to demonstrate that there are alternatives to globalization.

"Another World is Possible", participated in lectures, workshops and seminars focusing on subjects like poverty and participative democracy and discussed themes related to wealth production, access to wealth and sustainability, role of civil society, political power and ethics.
The World Social Forum is organized as an alternative to the
World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, January 23-28th, where world leaders, politicians and business leaders, academics and campaigners meet annually to discuss global, regional and industry issues facing society. This year discussions focused on corporate challenges, global economics, global governance, security and geopolitics, and values within the theme of
"Building Trust".
