FoodSPAN holds official launching
The Food Security Policy and Advocacy Network (FoodSPAN) held its first two-day meeting in Accra, Ghana last 22-23 May under the theme, FoodSPAN - the way forward.
FoodSPAN is a network comprised of Non-Governmental Organizations, research institutions, universities and government representatives, which was recently created during one of the latest workshops of Action Aid held in
December 2002.
The issues that were discussed during the meeting included: 1) Multilateral trading system: prospects and challenges for food security in Ghana. 2) The role of civil society towards the upcoming WTO and other multilateral trade meetings: campaigning and influencing strategies at national, regional and global level.
The meeting also included the remarks of members of
Action Aid Ghana who supports the network, from other representatives of local NGOs such as the Third World Network and from the FAO Representative in Ghana, Mr. Ndong-Mba.
